Can you imagine only being in London for 24 hours? Well, I was and let me tell you, there is so much to see! However, if you're only in London for a day there are absolutely some impressive places you must visit. Be prepared, a lot of walking will be required, so pack comfortable walking shoes. Trust me, I wore cute ankle boots around London for the whole day and still wince when I think about it.
Don't stress, If you're worried about how expensive everything will be with the cost of cabs and ubers trying to get to all of the attraction fast. London has a train system called the Underground. It cost around $20 to get a daily pass and there are stops everywhere around the city, so it is easy to hop on and off at your destinations.
I would say one of the places you must make time for is Soho. It's a major shopping district in London. Don't worry if you're not into shopping. Soho has so much more to offer! You could see a play. My personal favorite is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. You can also enjoy some delicious, one of a kind food. One of the best places I ate at in Soho was a place called Burger and Lobster. It's this tasty restaurant that serves amazing burgers and even better lobster rolls! I would highly recommend checking it out. There are so many wonderful and unique little stores to see, along with some very poplar brand name stores. It truly was a delight exploring the area. I felt like I found a surprise around every corner.
Westminster is another must see on your one day adventure around London. Located in Westminster, is Westminster Abbey, where most of the royal weddings take place. You can by a pass that cost about $25 to go inside and see all the memorials of the old kings and queens along with some other fascinating people. However, if your on a time crunch and have other places you would like to see, it's just as fun to walk around the church and admire its beauty. Next door to the abbey is Big Ben and Parliament, along with the London Eye and some interesting museums. It is a very popular destination so be prepared for crowds and long lines.

Lastly, if you're as big of a Harry Potter fan as I am you will want to take the Underground to King's Cross Station. Unfortunately, only being in London for about 24 hours doesn't give you time to travel all the way to the to the amazing Warner Brothers studio tour of Harry Potter. Nevertheless, King's Cross Station is just as good! You'll have to wait about a half hour in line to get your picture taken at Platform 9 and 3/4, but it is worth the wait for that once in a lifetime amazing picture of you heading on to Hogwarts!
There is quite a lot to do and see in London. It is no small city. But if you move quick enough and make a plan for your trip you can cover everything you want to see in the city. Don't let the lack of time take away from all the amazing and fun memories you'll make on your short trip to one of the best cities in the world!
